CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) - Sunday began with hope, and it ended in despair.
Hoping to change the perception and trend in the series against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns lost quarterback Jason Campbell in the third quarter, turned it over 4 times and saw their season go down the drain.
Behind 217 yards passing from Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh rolled to a 27-11 win over the Browns on a windy and frigid Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.
“It was a disappointing game,” head coach Rob Chudzinski said. “Losing is never easy. We weren’t good enough today.”
With the loss, which dropped them to 4-7, the Browns can kiss their playoff hopes goodbye.
“You can’t lay 2 eggs in a row and expect to be a playoff team,” safety T.J. Ward said.
The Steelers, who have won 3 straight and 5 of their last 7 since an 0-4 start, became the first team within the AFC North to win a divisional game on the road this season, and of course it came in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) — Cleveland Browns quarterback Jason Campbell sustained a concussion following a strip-sack in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brandon Weeden, who was benched 5 weeks ago, relieved him and will likely start next week against Jacksonville and the Browns may bring in another quarterback.
Campbell went down with just under 8 minutes to play in the third quarter following a blind-side hit from Steelers cornerback William Gay, who was untouched on the play and appeared to hit Campbell in the head.
The officials, who have been encouraged by the league to think player safety first, didn’t throw a flag much to the dismay of head coach Rob Chudzinski.
“I felt he was hit in the head on that,” Chudzinski said. “They didn’t feel that way.”

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Losing to Pittsburgh or Cincinnati could almost be justified.
The argument could be made that the Bengals and Steelers are still better teams, simply getting hot at the right time, or the Browns are still to young and need another year to come of age.
But Sunday’s loss to the now 3-win Jacksonville Jaguars stings.
No one took the loss harder than cornerback Joe Haden, who gave up the winning touchdown to Cleveland native Cecil Shorts III with :40 left to play. Shorts ran a double move against Haden to get behind him and ultimately catch the game-winning score.
Haden, who also came away with his third interception in the last 3 weeks and 4th of the season earlier in the game, was asked for his take on the pulse within the locker room after dropping their third straight.
“I don’t know man. I don’t know. We f—in’ can’t stand losing, it hurts,” Haden said. “I go out there and put my f—in’ heart out there every time. Every time. You know what I’m saying? And we end up coming up short.
“It was my fault on the touchdown. He ran a good route, a good play, good offense.”

Cleveland’s storied rock history can be traced back to rock’s very beginning, more than six decades ago.
From the Alan Freed’s Moondog Coronation Ball in ’52, to the Beatles in ’64, Bowie’s US debut at Music Hall in ’72, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies in recent years, music fans know that Cleveland rocks. So why not show it? Or even share it?
And that’s just what you can do thanks to Space: ROCK, a gallery on Waterloo Road next to the Beachland Ballrom. A project of nonprofit group Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present & Future, Space: ROCK opened in April of this year and showcases Cleveland music history through the work of photographers and artists who recorded it.
This Friday, December 6th and next Saturday, December 14th, the gallery will offer photo prints for sale, something that’s just perfect for the music lover on you holiday shopping list.
RELATED: THE PHOTOS OF CLEVELAND CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHER JOE KLEON
Visitors will be able to buy prints directly from the photographer of both major superstar acts and popular local bands. They’ll include George Shuba’s photos of ’60s acts like the Beatles, the Who, Sonny & Cher and the many hit artists who appeared on Cleveland’s nationally syndicated Upbeat Show for which Shuba was the house photographer. But they’ll also include the photos that Joe Kleon has shot recently of artists like Taylor Swift, Alice Cooper, and Michael Stanley.
In between you’ll find Janet Macoska’s and Anastasia Pantsios’s shots of ’70s and ’80s superstars like David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, and Tina Turner, and Karen Novak’s photos of artists from the ’90s and ’00s including shots from the legendary Euclid Tavern scene.
If you stop in to browse and chat with the photographers, you’ll also be able to see Space: ROCK’s current show, A Sound Baseline: Making Music Work, devoted to the behind-the-scenes that keep the area music scene humming. That show runs through the end of December.
Michael Stanley chatted with Anastasia Pantsios about the sales and some memorable concerts. Listen to the audio below.
We also spoke with Janet Macoska about the holiday sales and some of her featured exhibits.
“For this rock and roll photography sale, I’m busting out the best of my rock images at prices everyone can afford. For $50, you can purchase an 11×14″ B&W and color prints featuring the artists Clevelanders LOVE to hear on WNCX. Roxy Music, Devo, KISS, Alice Cooper, Bowie, Bruce, AC/DC, Elvis Costello, Tina Turner, Judas Priest, and of course, Michael Stanley. Pop, punk, metal. I’m printing shots I’ve never printed before. You’ll see The Black Keys with their idols, DEVO, backstage in Akron. Slash hanging with his idol Les Paul. Onstage and offstage. I’ve been privileged to document moments with the greatest musicians on the planet, and continue to do that for the Rock Hall as their house photographer.
Right now, I have a photo exhibition of 50 images currently showing at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, and will have a wall of B&Ws at the Hard Rock Rocksino about to open. At this special sale, Clevelanders can choose from a great selection of my best rock shots for themselves or for gifts. Ready to frame. Interested rockers should NOT delay. Get their early. I only have limited copies of certain images, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Looking forward to seeing you at Space: ROCK Gallery on Friday, December 6th between 6-10 p.m.”
Joe Kleon spoke of what the life of a concert photographer is like and about some of his favorite concerts he has photographed.
He says, “Photographing the last Rush concert was a memorable occasion for me. The band changed my life when I was very young and I have seen them live around 50 times.
Working with Wish You Were Here and Michael Stanley And The Resonators for over 10 years has been very rewarding. Both bands are like family. To be able to be part of that family, even in a small way, is an incredible experience.
In additional to offering photos from Rush, Michael Stanley, and Wish You Were Here, I will also have concert photos from Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Yes, Foo Fighters, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Megadeth, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and over one hundred Northeast Ohio shows. I will have something available for music fans of all ages!
I love to share my concert photos. My ultimate goal, through my concert photography is to transport the viewer back to the stage and back to the concert hall. My main goal is for my concert photography is to rekindle the emotion of the music and vibe of the venue.
Concert photos are a fantastic and unique holiday gift. Supporting local business is so vital in our current economy. Purchasing a music photo as a gift, for someone that is a big fan of the band, or for someone who attended a particular concert, is such a personal and thoughtful gift, as opposed to a boring, mundane gift card from a big box store.”

Sunday’s loss at New England will go down among the all time epic collapses in Cleveland Browns history.
What would’ve been a signature win, turned into a brutal defeat after leading all afternoon and by 12 with 2:39 to play.
Tom Brady hit Danny Amendola for a 1-yard touchdown with :30 left that was set up by a controversial pass interference call, Billy Cundiff’s 58-yard field goal at the gun fell short, and the New England Patriots escaped with a 27-26 win over the Browns.
Despite one of their better efforts of the season, the Browns lost for the 7th time in 8 games. Jason Campbell finished the day 29 of 41 for 391 yards 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Cundiff gave the Browns the early lead with a 43-yard field goal on their opening drive which went 10 plays and 47 yards.
Browns linebacker D’Qwell Jackson intercepted Brady on a 3rd and 10 and returned it to their own 44. It was the first pick of the season for Jackson. 9 plays and 36 yards later, Cundiff hit from 37 to give the Browns a 6-0 advantage with 14:45 to play in the first half.
Cleveland dominated the opening quarter beating the Patriots in every statistical category and out-gaining them 113-22 while running 21 offensive plays to New England’s 8.

Jim Morrison would have celebrated his 70th birthday on December 8th. However, the Lizard King remains a member of the ’27 Club’ with Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Alan Wilson and more.
The Doors frontman passed away on July 3, 1971, but his legacy and impact grows stronger decades later.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame features several items from Mr. Mojo Risin’. Among them are his high school diploma, baptism certificate, his first poem titled “The Pony Express, cub scout uniform, lyrics, Last Will and Testament, and Report on the Death of an American Citizen.
Greg Harris, President & CEO, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum says, “Jim Morrison had a powerful impact on rock and roll and remains the archetype of the rock star poet. More than forty years later, his lyrics, voice, and swagger continue to enthrall and excite. Today, new generations embrace the music of the Doors, artists continue to sample their work and Morrison is now studied, emulated and celebrated around the world.”

Otis Redding, had just wrapped up a two-day, three-show stint at Cleveland’s Leo’s Casino and a performance on the nationally syndicated “Upbeat” TV show which was filmed at the studios of Channel 5. His career was hot and things were looking up!
Then on this day in 1967, on his way to a show in Madison, Wisconsin, his private plane crashed into a Wisconsin lake killing Redding and all but one of his back-up band The Bar-Kays.
And if you’ve ever been to The Rock and Roll Hall Of fame you’ve probably seen a remaining piece of the plane’s fuselage; it’s a strange and erie exhibit that stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it.
And like too many others who died before their time, we can only guess what music that magnificent voice would have brought us had he survived. But I can tell you it would have been great. If you need an entrance point to Redding’s career check out the albums “Otis Blue” or the posthumously released “The Immortal Otis Redding”.
CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) - Caleb Hanie’s stay in Cleveland was brief.
The Browns waived Hanie Tuesday and signed running back Edwin Baker off of the Houston Texans practice squad the team announced.
With both Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden recovering from concussions the Browns signed Hanie a week ago and he served as Campbell’s backup against the Patriots.
The move means that Weeden will likely be cleared to return this week. He sustained concussion at some point during the Browns loss to Jacksonville on Dec. 1.
Campbell returned to throw for 391 yards and 3 touchdowns in Sunday’s 27-26 loss to the Patriots after going down in the third quarter Nov. 24 against Pittsburgh.

As Cleveland sports fans, there are 2 things we are use to … change and controversies.
Our teams seem to change coaches more often than we change our socks and somehow there always seems to be some sort of controversy brewing – QB or otherwise. 2013 was no different.
Let’s take a look back at the year that was 2013.
1. Indians Manager Terry Francona wins AL Manager Of The Year
